We're excited to see new levels created in Kodu: Mars Edition! But, in case you haven't had a chance to review all the coolness we've updated Kodu with, here's a summary, along with how to use Kodu in the future!
What's new in Kodu: Mars Edition
Our new character, the Rover! Fast, agile, and equipped with science instruments.
New Games!: We've partnered with Game Developers to deliver 3 Mars experiences: Mars Rover: Discovery; Mars Rover: Expedition; Mars Rover: Set the Course.
New Curriculum: Available soon, we have curriculum for teachers. Learn to program the Rover; Find patters in Rocks; Or build your own Mars environment. 3 great ways to experience Mars in the classroom.
Rover commands: You can now scan, inspect, beam, and take a picture! The Rover has new and unique commands not found in other Kodu characters. The Rover is on a peaceful mission of science and exploration - how will you program him?
New Rock-types: Igneous and Sedimentary, representing rock-types to look for on Mars!
Hidden rocks: Add an element of surprise to your game; these rock types are exposed only when scanned.
Math Operators: More comparison features, including >, <, >=, <=.
End of Path: Community requested feature, adding "End of Path" detection.
Mars Levels based on Gale Crater: We've five template levels which are based on actual map data from Mars, and converted into actual maps for Kodu. See what it's like to explore mars from the Rover's view!
So, how do you use all of these cool new functions? We'll have tutorials over the coming days to teach you more about the functions, the characters, and new curriculum. Stay tuned for more info!
